Commuter Chat-

A measly 5 commuters on the cyclepath this morning. The lowest number since records began. Actually, apart from the path being quite twiggy, it didn’t feel so bad. The top of Cairngorm looks quite bad, I love the way they use the word “Tortuous” !
“Insane” would be the description of anyone wandering the hills today?

Commuter Chat-

I got overtaken twice this morning, must be losing it. To be fair, my front mudguard fell off as I got my bike out this morning, so I had that slightly muddy, salty, gritty (doggy?!) mouth all the way to work. Plenty fellow commuters today belting down the cyclepaths. Alberto has fixed my guard for my journey home, thank goodness, cheers mate.

Cycle Commuter Chat-

A few things to say today. On the way home last night I got seared eyeballs by someone with a really bright pulsing light. I had retinal burn after he/she passed. One minute later another cyclist came towards me with a really bright light. I lifted my hand to shield my eyes & he shouted “Oh shut up” as he went past.
This leads me to think I wasn’t the first to comment on the brightness of his light.
Don’t get me wrong. I am ALL for being seen. However if you have a million candle light on your bike, please point it towards the ground so you can see objects in your path & be courteous to on-comers!
Apart from being blinded…Twice this winter I have passed a motorbike on the cycle-path coming the other way in the dark (albeit at the Leith end of the path). So when I see a very bright light coming towards me I feel a bit nervy!
On a more positive note, I loved the crunch of grit & salt under my wheels on the path this morning (26.5 commuters, the 0.5 was a small child in a trailer).
Happy cycling!

Commuter Chat

Well, Happy New Year to all. That is us back in to the task of repairing & renovating cycles for the great Edinburgh public. How mild was the commute today. The schools are still of a few more days so deserted streets still. Only 7 commuters on the cycle-path today.
